Diskdiary is a disk space analyzer for macOS made by zaARTix's lab. In short: it collects nothing, and what it reads stays on your Mac.
Website analytics
This website offers optional Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits, referring websites and clicks on the DMG download link. It loads only after you choose Accept. Google may process page URLs, referrers, browser and device information, approximate location and cookie identifiers. Download events record clicks, not completed downloads or app installations. Scan results and file contents are not sent.
Choose Reject to browse without Google Analytics. You can change your choice with Analytics settings at the bottom of every page; withdrawing consent stops collection on this browser and removes its Google Analytics cookies. Your choice is saved locally. Advertising personalization is disabled. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes web requests and may collect aggregate traffic and performance measurements. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. The app’s separate data practices are described below.
What Diskdiary collects
Nothing. Diskdiary has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting of its own, and it doesn't send the results of your scans anywhere.
What Diskdiary stores on your Mac
- Scan results live in memory while a disk is open and aren't written to disk as a whole.
- History. After each scan, Diskdiary keeps a snapshot: the names and sizes of folders and packages from 10 MB up, the share of each kind of content in them, and the disk's capacity and free space at the time. You can delete it with Scan → Clear History….
- Access you confirmed. Diskdiary remembers the disks and folders you allowed it to read, so it doesn't ask again. Scan → Forget Remembered Access removes them.
- Settings, such as Favorites, the chosen comparison period and the alerts you set: the folders and disks they watch and their limits.
Alerts are checked on your Mac, and their notifications are delivered by macOS's own notification center; nothing about them leaves the Mac.
All of this is kept in Diskdiary's own sandbox container in your user Library on this Mac.
Purchases
For in-app purchases distributed through the App Store, Apple processes the payment; Diskdiary only checks on your Mac that the purchase exists. Apple's privacy policy covers what Apple collects.
Clipboard and sharing
Copy as Text and Copy Path put paths and sizes on the clipboard only when you choose them.
Coding agents
Diskdiary's command line runs on your Mac and sends nothing over the network. If you connect a coding agent, the agent reads what the command line prints, as it reads anything else you ask it about, and may send it to the agent's provider under that provider's terms. Diskdiary itself doesn't contact any agent or provider.
Children
Diskdiary collects no data from anyone, children included.
